It all began during the 18th century, when the elders shared stories of rituals, witches and other mysterious happenings. These mysterious happenings inhabited the street what is called Segovia Street. One of these strories tell about an Elf who grew flowers in a park called Retiro Park. Unexplained crashing noises were always heard when the King crossed it. These noises came from the walls of a few buildings located on Toboso Street. Today, there is no need to travel back in time to experience the mysterious happenings here.
THE CASE VALLECAS
The Vallecas Case, in recent times, tell about a small girl’s dealth which happened due to demonic possession and the use of the Ouiga Board. This is a famous case that took place in the Linares Palace then, and what is now called “Case de America.” Parapsychologists explained otherworldly presences in 1990. Another case which happened at the General Hospital which is now called “Modern Art Museum Reina Sofia” tells about when the spirits of the dead haunted the sick people to draw them to their home of wandering souls. Cases such as these are still keeping the mysterious stories alive in the city of Madrid.
THE LINARES PALACE OR CASA DE AMERICA
In Madrid, each ghost has its own name. They still live among the city’s residents memories. Gran Via is a street in Madrid and at the end stands the goddess Cibeles. Aboard her lion guided chariot, her back is turned to Linares Palace. It is here that the goddess felt the stares of the Marquises from the high windows of the palace.
The palace was restored in 1990 because it was abandoned during the mid-20th century. It was transformed to Casa de America. Workers on the site experienced strange happenings as the restoration took place. They saw doors opening and closing and they heard the screams that cut through the silence. These screams were thought to be coming from the life sized doll house that was on the side of the palace. This doll house belonged to the foster daughter of Marquis of Linares.
As the word about the nysterious happenings spread to the local media, teams of investigators and parapsychologists began to flock to the site. There are a few different versions of the story and the legend of Linares Palace.
1873 was when the construction of the palace took place. When the palace was completed, the Marquises of Linares adopted a girl named Raimundita. This is when the doll house was built. The story shares the secret that the Marquises were actualy step-brother and step-sister. This is why the adoption took place. The couple did give birth to a girl a few months later, but it was murdered and hidden or entombed within the walls to avoid a scandal in the city. After this occured, the Marquises lived apart, but within the palace in different locations.
In 1901, the Marquise died due to sorrow. Some people thought of the death as a suicide. Many who have visited the palace claim to have had paranormal experiences. The Madrid City Hall has documentation from investigators and parapsychologists that the building is so filled with energy from spirits and the tragic family occurences. Even pictures have revealed and displayed fields of energy. The underground area is where many believe contain the human remains. The spirit of the little girl dressed in a white dress runs through the Ball Room.
Even today, in what use to be the palace chambers, at night the spirits of the Marquises can be seen. Today, the building is called “Casa de America.”
THE REINA SOFIA MUSEUM
When there was General Hospital, thousands of people died there and was buried on the building’s grounds. This old hospital is now a museum. It was in the 18th century when the hospital was remodeled into the museum and it is now called the “National Museum Art Centre Riena Sofia.”
In 1995, a local newspaper was filled with reports of testimonials from many people claiming that alarms were going off, screams of people were coming from empty rooms, elevators were activated with no one inside them, and ghostly noises. These were events that took place when the building was still a hospital.
Today, many museum keepers ask to be relocated or if they may be granted medical leave. Museum keepers have reported that at night they have seen nuns with their rosaries fastened to their waists walking the hallways. Investigators have reports of information that concerns many terrifying cases took place. There are mysteries that still remain unsolved today.
THE HOUSE OF THE SEVEN CHIMNEYS
Today, in Madrid, ghosts want to show and tell their stories boldly. On Infantas Street Number 31, just behind Gran Via, there is The House of the Seven Chimneys. The ghost of Elena lives there, she was the lover of Felipe II king of Spain. The ghost, Elena, can be seen wandering around the rooftop telling about the King who killed her and hid her body.
Legends, tales and spirits of this mysterious city, Madrid, still remain to be discovered and are linked to the Devil. Just a few years ago, Madrid, displayed a statue publicly. The statue has been dedicated to the Fallen Angel. It can still be seen in Retiro Park by the fountain that has been crowned with its name. It is the scuplture of Angel Caido.
